Object Description:
In his drawings, Jorge de la Vega explored new ways of representing human and animal figures, which became key subjects of his work during the early 1960s. “La tormenta” shows a squall of vertical lines and horizontal bars looming above a human figure surrounded by animals. A grid suggesting shelter indicates that not everyone finds protection from the storm. De la Vega’s intense, bold brushstrokes and ragged lines lend his figures a sense of anxiety in the midst of an extreme situation.
