Object Description: Known as “Tanagra figurines” after the site in Boeotia in central Greece, mold-made female statuettes like this were widely popular in the Hellenistic period. Many of them had funerary purposes, which is reflected in their appearance as decoration on South Italian vases placed in tombs. The oinochoe to the right shows a similar figure on top.
