Object Description:
Unhappy with the current ministry, Lord Frederick North (left) and Charles James Fox (center), formed a notoriously short coalition that lasted less than nine months. This print, depicting the two administering an enema to Britannia, was published on the eve before they are officially appointed. After a bill to nationalize the British East India Company failed, King George III dismissed North and Fox and appointed twenty-four year old William Pitt as Prime Minister.
