Object Description: Prud’hon bridged the divide between neoclassicist and romantic styles, mastering both the linear conception of the former and the expressive handling of the latter. Best known and admired for his draftsmanship, he made only eight prints in his career. The Rape of Europa is a rare first state of one of them.
